Linoleum, as they say, can be enjoyed from a distance. But to really appreciate it, you need to discover it up close – you need to lie on it, sit on it, study it, feel it. This very much encapsulates the very essence of the group. At one glance, they may seem to be just an ordinary group of people sharing a common love for dancing yet there is more to them that meets the eye. More than just your average dance group, Team Vibe has indeed proven itself in various facets in the industry. Originating from different schools and universities (UST, Ateneo, La Salle, St. Scholastica, etc.) as well as different dance background and trainings, who would have thought that these people would come together for a greater purpose? From humble beginnings to great accomplishments, the crew has been continually evolving all throughout its years of existence. Venturing out not just to breathtaking performances ranging from hiphop, breakdance, jazz, ballet, cheerdance, gymnastics, etc.; but as well as to organizing events, providing their clients with out-of-the-box ideas and concepts that defies the typical; avant-garde graphic designs to meet specific needs of clients; creative writing; dance classes and coaching; high-quality costume designs; video productions, and a lot more. While the crew is all passionate about its dancing, they are also practical then it comes to compromising with clients. Truthfully so, this is one of their impressive attempts to taking the group into the next level – indeed, a prototype that poses a challenge to others. Modest and unassuming, Team Vibe offers a refreshing change to the explosive trends in the industry. It is this capacity to step back and see the dance industry as a whole that kept the crew’s head above water while others have floundered around the current waves. There has been a big boom in the emergence of dance groups in the country and to keep the group’s spirit up in the limelight, they always see to it to move along with the demands of time yet they make it a point to never stray away from the basics. Their versatility will always set them apart from the others. Dancers also, being the athletes of God, they constantly embody that drive within them in every feat and reflect his glory in all that they do. It is their faith in Him that helps them interrogate with their own work; it is essential for them to question how and why they do what they do with every work and performance. A heart full of fire and desire for the Lord helps them bring out the fullest and keeps them grounded as a group.
This unusual collaboration of talented, young artists has still a lot to flourish and discover as they move along together. Their slow, steady rise to reaching their goals of excellence is indeed in sight. This passionate assertion of their thriving, vigorous love for what they do best compelled them to come together as a group. This is more than just a calling and an ordained solidarity – it’s their destiny.

Pinoy Hiphop Group Wins Int'l Dance Competition From: The Star Malaysia "Gravity defying: Members of Vibe Dance, a Filipino team, put up a great show at the championship, incorporating a number of formations and stunts, which later earned them the first prize in the Hip Hop Team Open category. - 17 July, 2007 at Shangrila Hotel Kuala Lumpur. About 600 participants from all over Malaysia, as well as from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Sri Lanka and Iran showed off their talents, in hopes of clinching a regional champion title and attractive cash prizes. " http://gallery.thestar.com.my/default.asp?id=857 Pinoy hiphop group wins int'l dance competition MARK J. UBALDE, GMANews.TV Another Filipino dance team has gained recognition abroad after winning in one of the biggest international Hip-Hop competitions in Malaysia. Vibe Dance topped 11 countries from all over the region in the Asia Pacific Dance Competition last July 17 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The team won gold in the Hip-Hop Open Category (no age limit) while Joemar Nebres, 24, a member of the same dance group bagged first in the Hip-Hop Solo competition. “Sobra nuong run pa lang namin, lahat nagpuntahan at kinrongatulate na kami (Even in our first run everyone came and congratulated us)," said Melvin Jansen Ang, choreographer and dancer of Vibe Dance, referring to their practice routine at the event venue in Malaysia. Ang recalled the difficulties they had to face in raising money for the trip. Through solicitations from friends, family members, relatives abroad and through gigs, they were able to generate the P80,000 that their seven-member team needed to fly abroad. All of it paid off in the end with their team winning two top prizes in the 3rd annual dance competition. Ang attributes this to the fact that Filipino hip hop dancers have gained enough recognition in the international scene. Last year, the dance group All Stars won in the World Hip Hop competition, beating even teams from the United States, where the dance originated and evolved. Vibe Dance competed against 11 Asia Pacific countries. About 600 participants slugged it out in other dance disciplines such as Belly dancing, line dancing and hip hop. There were three categories for Hip-hop: Junior Division, Open Division and Solo Division. Vibe Dance won the last two divisions. The event started at 8:00 a.m. and ended at 1 a.m. The Asia Pacific Dance Competition worked similarly to the popular Dancesport of ballroom dancing where dancers had to pass the rigorous quarterfinals and semifinals before entering the finals. In the solo category, Nebres was dancing in the same floor with 30 other hip-hop dancers from different countries. All of them didn’t know the music that will be used until the competition began. Right now, according to Ang, the team is gearing up for another competition in Singapore where they hope to have a repeat of their victory. - GMANews.TV "Wow! I just talked to Melvin, the manager of Team Vibe, and i am so inspired. His guys just won 1st place in the Asia Pacific Hip Hop Dance Competition in Malaysia! With 11 nations represented and 600 dancers in competition our Filipino brothers won 1st place in Open HipHop Solo and Group categories.
He tells me that while they were there people from Singapore, Malaysia, etc... were just so amazed at their overflowing talent and energy. Praise and Glory to God. He is truly promoting those that call on his name! This is an encouragement to all of us Filipino Artists... our destiny is to go out to the nations and glorify God with our talents and excellence. We are destined to shine and lead in the area of arts and entertainment all over the world!" Melvin Ang, my best pal and the guy who reached out t o me, took a team of young dancers to Malaysia to represent good ol' RP in a 600-competitor hiphop contest just a couple of weeks before. From their stories, it's amazing and inspiring how God worked in their circumstances, from the rehearsals (simultaneous with WorldCon rehearsals yun ha!) to the different injuries, to the miscommunication with their transpo going to the airport to registration to everything. Indeed, it was all God who moved the mountains for them and they're giving Him all the credit for what they had accomplished. Y'all should check out melvin's site for pics and vids. : melvinjansen.multiply.com Congratulations to Team VIBE. Truly, the Lord will take you to the ends of the earth. The best is yet to come for you guys. I love y'all! Filipinos and Proud! To God be the Glory! Thanks to all who supported!
Posted by Cookie on Jul 20, '07 3:37 PM for everyone From preparing for Malaysia to going there and even when we got there, it wasn't all a smooth ride. There were more bumps on the road than things to encourage & inspire us. We got bruised, mugged, sick, even some dislocated bones. But we persist because we believed that this was for us. The night before the competition was our lowest point. We were exhausted. Too exhausted maybe to even give a good performance the next day. Some of us even got sick that night, while others are still feeling under the weather. Everybody went to bed feeling down & empty. When everybody was asleep I chose to stay up for a while and read the Bible and pray. This was the verse I read that night & i got goosebumps from reading it because every little thing fits perfectly in our situation! This was what God said and it's exactly what we needed to hear! The next day, competition day, we registered late & we didn't get to play our blockings on the floor. Talk about a good start! When the competition was about to start, we stayed outside & I shared this verse to everybody but I couldn't get myself to reading it & not cry so I asked 'em read it. It turned into a moment of praying, worshipping & really connecting with God. After all, He's the reason why we pursued this competition. Everything was great after that. We made new friends. They're more like new family to us. Plus the fact that we bagged the gold! Woot! God is really great! No matter how long I make this blog it wouldn't even give justice to happend there. To Team Vibe, let's continue this race, this battle. We are, after all, athletes of the living God! ISAIAH 41:1-14 The Helper of Israel 1 "Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment. 2 "Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service [a]? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow. 3 He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before. 4 Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD—with the first of them and with the last—I am he." 5 The islands have seen it and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They approach and come forward; 6 they help each other and say to their companions, "Be strong!" 7 The metal worker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding, "It is good." The other nails down the idol so it will not topple. 8 "But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, 9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. 11 "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. 12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. 13 For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. 14 Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you," declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
